1.4: Using static pages

All pages on your 23 Video site are generated automatically based on your layout setup, but you might also need some customized static pages. Examples of such are about pages, conditions etc. Common for all of these are the fact, that you obviously want them to have their own unique links, which means that simply putting the static content into your layout won't do.

This is where the concept of "static pages" comes into play. Static pages can be found by going to Design → Pages, and by default you will see one page called "About", which is an empty page automatically added when you set up your 23 Video site. Clicking on the page title itself opens the page on your video site and shows you the content as it is presented to your users, where as clicking "EDIT" or "DELETE" allows you to respectively edit or delete a static page. Adding a new page is as easy as clicking "Add a new page".

Editing or adding a static page

When adding or editing a static page, you will be presented with a series of options. First off is the actual content of your page which is defined by the Page title and the content itself denoted by Page content. The content of the page can be formatted in different ways, which have the characteristics as follows:

The second half of editing a static page is deciding how and when access to the page is displayed.

The URL of the page is the link by which people access it. Allowed characters are letters a through z, A through Z, the numbers 0 through 9, dots (.), dashes (-) and underscores (_). All URL's are however located in the subpath of /page/, but apart from that, you have complete control of the URL.

The last configurable option for a page is where a link to the page should be displayed. You have the following options:
